DESIGNATING A PLAYER FOR ASSIGNMENT
If you wish to either
- Option 1: remove a player from your 40-man roster, OR
- Option 2: demote a player from your 26-man roster to your 40-man roster, and that player is out of player options,
you must designate that player for assignment. When designating a player for assignment, please post in this format:
Post Title: Player Name
Player Name / Position / MLB Team / 2020 Contract / 2021 Contract / Etc.
Option 1 or Option 2
Player's destination (i.e. AAA), or if you wish to immediately send the player to waivers, WAIVERS, followed by their destination if they pass through waivers
Example
Jordan Zimmerman
Jordan Zimmerman / SP / DET / 2020: $25M / 2021: FA
Option 2
WAIVERS (AAA)
Once you designate a player for assignment, you have a 7-day grace period until the player is put on waivers. During this 7-day grace period, the player's salary will still count against your cap. The only transaction you may take with this player during this 7-day grace period is trading the player. After the 7-day grace period (or if you immediately released the player to waivers), the player is released to waivers.
At any point in the grace period, the original owner of the player can release the player to waivers by replying to their original post.
If the player passes through waivers unclaimed, they will be added to the level of the farm system that you specified.
CLAIMING A PLAYER DESIGNATED FOR ASSIGNMENT
If a player has immediately been released to waivers (or the original owner replied to the post stating their intentions to release the player to waivers), any GM can reply to this post and claim the player on a first-come-first-serve basis. Otherwise, after the 7-day grace period has passed, Tigers GM (Kyle) will reply to the post stating that the grace period is over. At that point, the player may be claimed on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Remember: If the player is claimed off waivers, he must be immediately added to that team’s 40-man roster, either optioned to the minor leagues (if they have any options left) or promoted to the 26-man roster.
If claiming a player, please reply in this format:
My team is claiming Player
Player's 2020 Salary:
My team's 2020 Cap Room Left:
Player's destination (26-man or 40-man)
Your corresponding move
Example
Chicago White Sox are claiming Jordan Zimmerman
Jordan Zimmerman's 2020 Salary: $25M
Chicago White Sox 2020 Cap Room Left: $26M
26-man roster
Designate James McCann for assignment
As long as your cap room left is higher than the player's salary, the player will be immediately added to your roster.
